Zombie MMO (temporary title) is a game that allows players to play one of the few survivors in the world where the outbreak of a mysterious epidemic turned the majority of the population into bloodthirsty zombies. Undead Labs is responsible for production. This studio was founded by Strain, who in the past worked in Blizzard on World of Warcraft. Shortly after completing this production he left the company and created with his colleagues ArenaNet, the studio responsible for Guild Wars. Undead Labs also has a lot of other people from ArenaNet, including James Phinney, the second of the three co-founders of the company.
The action of the game takes place in modern times, just a few months forward from today. Of course, the universe created by the authors differs from ours in the fact that the local civilization was almost completely destroyed by living corpses. Undead Labs’ debut work tells the story of people trying to survive after the apocalypse, and not about coping with the outbreak of the epidemic itself.
The authors did not want their game to be just a dark online gameplay park, where you can find static attractions at every step. Instead, they created a dynamic world changing as a result of the actions of players. One of the most important elements of the game is collecting tools and objects, which we then use to fortify buildings. Physical engine of the game allows you to create, among other things, dams, narrow passages, fences and a mass of various traps. Only a thoughtful use of all these possibilities will make it possible to repel further zombie attacks.
The authors made sure that in their work we found a dynamic and exciting fight. Instead of copying solutions from typical PC-based MMOs, the creators based themselves on systems known from high-budget console shooters. An important aspect of the whole game is, of course, survival in this dangerous world, which means that everything has to be broken down to get water, food, shelter and, of course, ammunition. In order to make it easier for players, the task was made possible to cultivate their own crops and collect their crops. Everything is designed in a realistic way, which means that we will be merging into larger groups because it is simply easier to survive. In such a world, a lonely person can only become a zombie hunting game. Only a small community is able to prepare a relatively safe shelter and start clearing the nearby area of living corpses.
