Xin Jianxia Qingyuan
During the late years of Song Dynasty in China (12th century), the ambition of
the northern Manchu-like Jin nation to invade the rich empire became too
strong. The situation was worsened by the corruption of Chinese minister, such
as Qing Gui, who was one of the most prominent politicians who betrayed his
country. You play as a young man named Dugu Jian, the best pupil of the school
Hengshan. His father was a famous swordsman who was betrayed by his best
friend, Zhang Feng and was killed. Dugu Jian begins a quest for personal
revenge, which only becomes stronger because of his desire to protect China
from the Jin invaders.
Xin Jianxia Qingyuan is a remake of an older Chinese-made role-playing
game. This version features isometric pre-rendered backgrounds with small 3D
characters, and point-and-click interface with highlighted persons and
objects, similar to Baldur’s Gate series. The combat is action-based. The
player has to click on the enemy to attack physically, or cast spells in real
time by pressing one of the previously assigned quick buttons. In standard RPG
fashion, the protagonist receives experience points by defeating foes, gaining
levels and becoming stronger.
