Wings of Honour: Battles of the Red Baron
The sequel to Wings of Honour pits the player as either a WWI pilot of a
special squadron of the Allied forces, The Angels of Annihilation, or of Jasta
11, the squadron of Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the Red Baron.
There are three main game modes: new game, free flight and multiplayer. New
game starts either an Allied or German campaign. Free flight lets the player
fly over any selected map without facing enemies. In multiplayer mode, up to
10 players can dogfight in any selected map.
During the campaign missions, players can sometimes select which aircraft to
fly (including a German Zeppelin in some missions). The aircraft is controlled
with the mouse for direction and shooting and the keyboard for rolling and
selecting weapons. Each airplane is equipped with one main cannon (fired with
the left mouse button) and two secondary weapons: bombs and rockets (selected
with the 2 and 1 keys, respectively, and fired with the right mouse button).
When firing bombs a ground aim will appear, showing where the bomb will fall.
While flying players will also be able to give orders to their wing-men,
telling them to help them, follow or disengage (pressing F9, F10 and F11
respectively).
There are 5 cameras available: cockpit view, external view, internal view
(cockpit-less), spin camera and fly by camera. Players can also control the
pilots view with a free look mode.
