## Description
_Vintergatan: R adda Jorden!_ is a game based on a Swedish television series
for children. Vintergatan is the Swedish name for the Milky Way and most of
the game takes place on board a space ship that the player is in command of
and where he will interact with some of the characters from the TV show. The
player’s task is to find and retrieve a number of organisms that have become
extinct on Earth and are needed to save the planet.
The player controls the space ship through its navigation system which shows a
map of the solar system that the player clicks on to move. Each solar system
consists of a number of planets, the ships of other space travellers and black
holes that allow the player to travel to other solar systems. To retrieve the
required organisms the player has to land on the right planets. When landing,
the game changes into a side view platform game where the player takes control
of one of the members of his crew. Each planet consists of a number of screens
that the player has to traverse by climbing ladders, jumping between platforms
and avoiding various creatures. There are also various items that can be
collected such as gems or health packs. Sometimes specific items have to be
used to progress, for example using bricks to build a bridge or a rope to
reach a ladder. There is also a platform level aboard the space ships in which
the player has make his way though to reach the engine room. In the engine
room are crystals that are needed for the ship’s shields. To get crystals the
player has to visit special crystal planets. When collecting the crystals the
game turns into a Lunar Lander-esque game where the player has to pick up the
crystals without crashing into the surface.
Upon exploring the galaxy the player will come across various odd space
creatures. To communicate with these the player has to first turn on a
translation machine by playing a mini-game similar to Mastermind where the
player has to figure out which cables to connect with the machine. Once this
is done the player has two options: to trade with the aliens or to battle them
in a space duel. The space duel is played from a first person perspective
where the player can only move left and right and where the goal is to shoot
down the opponents. There are two other mini-games played from the same first
person view, one where the rocks of an asteroid field has to be avoided and
one where the player has to move through a black hole.
