TV Station Manager
This managerial strategy game requires you to manage a successful TV Network.
Time elapses as you make your decisions, which essentially involves planning
the evening’s schedule and then watching to see how high the viewing figures
are, and which demographics (kids/teens/adults/older people) have watched the
show.
The player starts with a small roster of programs (split into movies, set-
length series and daily shows) and must choose timeslots for these. Ready-made
shows can be purchased, or you can create your own by specifying the plot,
setting and cast. There is little money for this at the start of the game,
which is where advertising revenue comes in.
Each programming timeslot has an advertisement attached to it. Advertisers
offer deals requiring you to show their advert a set number of times in a set
time period, with each viewing requiring a certain-sized audience (either
overall or within their target market) to be credited. There are penalties for
not screening an ad frequently enough, so the player must be careful not to
purchase too many.
