Turtix
Turtix has gone and done it. What he thought would be a small spell ended up
being the one that broke the amulet of peace. Of course he didn’t really mean
to do any harm, but maybe he should have waited for his teacher to help him.
As if this wasn’t bad enough, the evil forces of the land, which the amulet
kept at bay, kidnapped all the young turtles of the School of Magic that are
scattered throughout the islands of his world. Well, Turtix will not take this
lying down and so he sets out on a journey to recover the shattered amulet
pieces and rescue all the young turtles.
Turtix is a side-scrolling platform game wherein the player takes the role
of Turtix, a student magician, on a quest to rescue kidnapped friends and
recover gems and amulets.
There are five various worlds in the game to go through each with highly-
detailed environments and their own enemies and bosses. Basic movement is jump
which will enable the player to stomp on enemies and finish them off by
kicking them. The player will get special power-ups such as the ability to
fire magic missiles but they will have to, again, kick some of the enemies to
finish them off. Very basic movement and attack commands make the game more
about platform jumping than attacking; in fact the game doesn’t require the
player to kill off all the enemies but rather just the ones that are guarding
fellow kidnapped students.
The levels are littered with obstacles such as spikes and moving platforms and
of course enemies but each game world starts slowly, requiring the player to
rescue only three students in a small level and build up, before a boss
battle, to levels containing ten rescues and large maze-like layouts. In
between levels, the mentor will give the player tips about introduced enemies
and obstacles but will also give them a heads-up on new power-ups and
strategies for finishing the bosses off.
