Truck Racer (2009)

Truck Racer is a response of Nordic Games publishing company to the results of customer surveys. Many adult players have declared that they lack the most simple, arcade races in which they could play with their children. The task of preparing a game that meets such a need was entrusted to the Brain in a Jar studio.

Players have the opportunity to take part in the exciting struggles of drivers of large and slightly smaller cars. Vehicles available at Truck Racer include fire brigade, truck, pick-up, delivery van, and even off-road hummer and monster truck. The competition takes place on 8 routes marked out in 8 countries, which can be admired at varying times of day and night.

In single player mode, artificial intelligence directs the actions of seven enemies, trying to use their strengths (speed, controllability, dimensions, etc.). Options include a standard race, a track duel or a stuntman’s fight in the arena. The creators also took care of the possibility of competing with a living opponent on a split screen.

The Truck Racer visuals clearly indicate the low-cost nature of production. Car models are characterized by a small amount of detail, and the turning of racing tracks is very modest. The only advantage is the system of damage and deformation of the vehicle body and the possibility of watching repetitions of the race.
