Transverse

Transverse is a science fiction MMORPG set in the climates of science fiction, betting on the freedom of gameplay. The title was financed by the community method, and it was realized by Piranha Games studio, the creator of MechWarrior Online.

Transverse transports us in time and space to 2315, when mankind set about exploring distant cosmic areas outside the Solar System. This was made possible mainly thanks to the technology allowing to overcome the barriers of death – the creation of synthetic bodies, between which people can transfer their consciousness. However, this process has dangerous side effects, because during such a “transfer” fragments of the daredevil’s personality may be detached from it. Of course, not everyone supported transhumanism, which led to the formation of four hostile factions: Puresect, Neostate Alliance, Exceedant States and Eriscent.

Players take on the role of spacecraft pilots wandering the galaxy in search of their place in the universe. They live in the area known as Fringe, where, far from the influence of the Sol Republic, they can join forces to create their own colonies and discover new, unexplored territories. Interestingly, the game world is shaped by the players themselves, playing roles usually played by independent characters. In Transverse we will not meet the so-called NPCs. Instead, players can choose between several professions (e.g. miners, traders, rewards hunters, scientists and explorers) and their illegal counterparts (pirates, smugglers, killers, spy, etc.). The development consists in selecting appropriate specializations from four categories: General, Fighting, Industry and Science and the subsequent performance of related activities. In addition, you can set up your own businesses, build and modify spacecraft, and even create separate organisations, which will then outsource tasks to other participants in the game. As befits an MMO production, there are thousands of players in the game world, cooperating or fighting each other.

Creating a large, detailed world where people from all over the world can meet, was possible thanks to Unreal Engine 4 technology. It was created for multi-person productions, and also allows to generate very realistic graphics.
