Jack Boyd, beloved police chief of Freeburg, has 180 days before he’s forced to retire. But Jack won’t be going out quietly. Over the next six months, he’ll be going all out to fulfill a dream: earn half a million dollars, any way he can. That might be play money for a corrupt cop, but up until now, Jack has been playing by the book. Even with overtime, in six months he wouldn’t make fifty grand. But a police chief has access to all sorts of… informal income. Bribes, weapons and drug sales, deals with the Mafia, skimming off the budget, kickbacks – you name it. And Jack is tired of playing nice. He’s is ready for anything, but only you can decide how far he’ll go.
Manage your staff, respond to emergencies, and investigate crimes in a city on the brink of chaos. The mafia underworld maneuvers behind the scenes, sinking their claws ever deeper into the city, even as the mayor is ready to exploit every situation to his political advantage.
Choose your approach to each situation as it unfolds. Sometimes you’ll be responding to a developing crisis at a crime scene, or negotiating with Freeburg’s crime bosses. Sometimes you’ll find yourself dodging questions in the press room, or even the occasional cross-examination in the witness box. Can you keep this pressure cooker from exploding, at least for long enough to stash away a nice retirement nest egg?

Style, gameplay, writing
Parts felt rushed
Player decisions had little impact.
A resource management based game with a great style. The characters are interesting and the writing is good. It’s challenging without being punishing and you have a lot of freedom about what kind of police chief you want to be. Get cosy with the mafia or make sacrifices to take them down. Unfortunately the payoff was really lacking. So many times, important plot points were rushed by in a block of text and the ending takes very little account of how you played the game, a bit of a mass effect 3 moment. While I loved the gameplay, it didn’t evolve a whole lot throughout the game and was bordering on stale by the end. A few of the detective cases had obscure solutions that required blunt force to solve rather than logic.
It is a lot of fun, just missed the mark a few times and seemed to take no notice of all the decisions youve made throughout youre playthrough.
