Based on the folklore, _Kaschey the Immortal_ is a hidden-object fantasy
adventure game which tells a story of a wizard abducting the most beautiful
woman in the land, who just happens to be the Tsar’s wife and your mother. Two
of your older bothers went in search of her only to vanish without a trace.
The player takes a role of Ivan, the youngest son, whose turn to go find the
evil wizard and rescue your mother has finally come.

The game is mostly focus on hidden-object mini-game and solving puzzles which
can be skipped if you don’t manage to solve them in the allotted time. Hidden-
object scenes often provide a time-consuming gameplay element where your goal
is to find a single object of interest, not a dozen of unrelated objects. Some
of the objects come in two parts and must be matched, while other may be
hidden behind something in which case the player will need to use an item from
the inventory to gain access to the hidden object of interest.

On your journey you will occasionally talk to characters, animals, and fantasy
creatures which will often require you to do something in return before they
help you. While the in-game conversations feature no voice-acting whatsoever,
the main cut-scenes such as the intro story provide a narrative voice-acting.
When stuck, you can click on the hint button which will highlight the object
of interest, or lead you toward the location you should visit next in order to
advance the story. Using objects from your inventory will often prompt a short
animation of that object being used in the area (i.e. cutting the branch with
an axe, sharpening the sword, breaking the lock, etc.). Additionally, your
journey will be documented in the book which will tell the story so far and
occasionally provide you with the hints for some of the puzzles you’ll
encounter.
