Every episode was really short
Not only am I a huge fan of Telltale Games, I’m also a huge fan of The Walking Dead and the character, Michonne. So to hear about this game being in development made me extremely excited. Sadly, that excitement was short-lived. The Walking Dead season 1 left me crying for hours, season 2 made me hope for a season 3, and this game, left me with a numb feeling, as if I just lost a few hours of valuable time. It’s a very short game, making me go “huh, it’s already over?” after each episode. Not only that, but the story isn’t very interesting. The only thing that really made me invested enough in this, was Michonne’s past. The rest just felt like fillers. Telltale are so talented when it comes to writing stories and characters, but the people in this game felt bland and rushed. The choices didn’t affect you emotionally, as you didn’t know the characters well enough. In other words, it didn’t matter if certain people lived or died, because you didn’t feel attached enough. Also, some scenes were just stupid.
The graphics feel like a slight improvement, and I really like Michonne’s design. The music and sounds are amazing, and I love the intro scene. It’s so well down and visually appealing to the eye! Another great thing are the voice actors. We got some real talents here, and Samira Wiley was a great pick for Michonne.
Conclusion: All in all, I was slightly disappointed. I was hoping for an exciting story and lovable characters.
I guess that I’m glad I played it, but I probably won’t return to it anytime soon like I did with the other Telltale games.
