The Settlers II: 10th Anniversary – Vikings
For a long time, the Romans were happy. They had everything. Wealth, women and
health. But one day, they were struck by many catastrophes at once. First
their women where gone and then hell broke loose. A drought came and the
animals died in agony because of the heat, then swarms of grasshoppers came
down from the sky and ate, what was left from the crop and to top it all, the
nearby volcano broke out.
With nothing else left to do, the Romans put everything and everyone who was
left on ships and sailed away. But still luck wasn’t on their side and they
soon hit a storm. After the storm was over, no ship was left but a few
survivors found themselves on an island, much like their homeland and they
began their search for a new home and their woman.
Since this game is a remake of the original The Settlers 2: Veni, Vidi, Vici,
the core of the game remains the same. Your goal in the campaign is still to
reach the portal in every of the 10 missions. To do so, you’ve to build a
working economic-system to provide for your settlers and to expand your little
empire and fight the enemies which are in your way.
Besides the completely new 3D graphics-engine, there are some smaller
adjustments to the original gameplay. For example you now get 50% of the
resources back when you tear down a building.
There are also 18 maps available in free play mode were you can set your own
goals for winning (like conquer 3/4 of the land) or just settle forever. And
there’s a multiplayer mode for up to 6 players. An easy-to-use-editor is
available, too which can also convert old The Settlers 2: Veni, Vidi, Vici-
maps to the new format.
