The French Open 1998
In the official game of the Roland Garros tennis tournament, the player has
the option either to make simple matches (with the option to choose between
male or female players, single or doubles and number of sets) in four court
types (Hard, Cement, Grass and Synthetic) in a number of different venues all
around the world, from the Grand Slam courts in Paris, London and NY to a
paradisiac beach. There is also a full season mode where players chose 10 of
the included tournaments and play for both money and points, hoping to reach
the top spot.
Gameplay is what one could expect from a tennis game – two buttons, one to
perform a slice shot and other a top spin. The direction of the ball is
controlled by the time between the player pressing the button and hitting the
ball. Each court type affects the ball differently, so mastering both the
baseline and the net is important in tournament play.
