## Description
_The Croods_ is a social mobile game based on the Dreamworks’ animated movie
of the same name. It is a village builder in the style of FarmVille, built
around the idea of hunting and gathering that the family patriarch Grug comes
up with at the start of the game. Hunting is done by building traps and once
an animal is caught it is brought to the village where it can be tamed. When
an animal has been tamed, the player has to build a home for it from where it
can produce more food. Different animals require and produce different kinds
of resources. For example molarbears consume berries and produce carrots which
then are fed to bunnies that in turn produce another resource. The player
earns XP to level up which gives access to new items to build.
Three characters from the movie appear at the start of the game and more will
be introduced later on. Grug is the one that does the hunting and from level 6
he can build elevators leading to new areas. Gran gives the player various
chores (objectives) that can be done for a reward. There is also Ugga who
makes soup from the gathered ingredients. Soup can then be fed to animals so
that their production rates increase. The game uses a free-to-play model where
the player can buy crystals that can be used to skip construction wait times
and to buy coins which are needed to construct new buildings.
