Mysteries of Borsak Castle is another educational game prepared by IRMA company for the youngest computer users. The program is part of the Computer Gratka series, and its content has been adapted to the intellectual level of children aged 3 to 7 years.
This production takes young people to a colourful land called Teczowa Polanka, inhabited, among others, by the sorceress Papatka and her friends: Tosia, Barnaba’s bear and Philip’s gnome. The task of the players is to help these heroes to find lost keys to the vault.
The game has been divided into several stages and includes a number of games and competitions, i.e. forging horseshoes, playing dice, arranging portraits, shooting from crossbows, playing with warmth-winter, i.e. searching for a hiding place for the spirit, castle quiz or decryption of castles and numerous puzzles and rhymes. In addition, toddlers can listen to and sing songs about ghosts and watch a multimedia fairy tale.
Apart from entertainment, the programme has many educational values: it prepares children for writing letters (B, C, G), teaches them to read syllables; thanks to it, children learn about a number of issues related to technology, nature, geography and history, e.g. tools used in the smithy, animals, such as badger and bat, planets of the Solar System or customs of former castle inhabitants. In addition, they learn to determine the size of the harvest (less, the same, more). Finally, the title does not contain scenes of violence.
