Stardom: Hollywood is the sequel to Stardom: The A-List. In many ways it is
a reworked version of that title, as not only are most of the gameplay
mechanics completely identical, many characters and story elements are also
presented in exactly the same way. It is a rags to riches story of a character
who wants to make it in the movie industry. At the start a custom character is
created and the starting elements are identical: moving into a new apartment,
getting a job at a local coffeehouse, being introduced to the sleazy agent
Arnie and so on. The biggest change compared to The A-List are the much more
detailed graphics.

The character can visit different locations and participate in activities.
These are all presented as static screens. Most of the interaction is limited
to conversations with dialogue options, for instance to get introductions with
people in the industry, as well as tapping icons to complete tasks. Completing
tasks is rewarded with experience to level up and various currencies such as
energy, cash and stars. Most actions require energy and the meter can be
refilled by waiting a bit, by leveling up, or by buying additional units
through in-app purchases. The game is largely linear, with some variations to
seek contact with certain people and reject others. Initially characters are
met by talking to people in bars and clubs. After getting an agent, work can
be done in commercials and eventually movies. Often auditions need to be done
first and agents provide a script that can be read first. Next to the
character level, progress is also covered in a Starnews show as in the first
game.

Other game elements include connecting with other actors to use them as co-
stars during projects. It is also possible to date people and go on dates,
with the same system to complete activities during a date. Nurturing
professional relationships is often rewarded with rewards. The main rating is
from E to A, based on the number of fans. This can be tracked in the Starnews
top 100 list. The game once again puts a lot of emphasis on the wardrobe. The
character can be customized through facial features, hairstyle, clothes, shoes
and accessories. These are unlocked by leveling up or by spending currencies.
The premium star currency is often used to charm someone in conversations,
getting things done quickly.
