Star Trek: The Next Generation – Klingon Honor Guard
Klingon Honor Guard is a first person shooter set in the Star Trek
universe. It uses the Unreal engine, with all its accompanying visual eye
candy.
As the name suggests, this game stars the Klingons, those lovable growling,
bellowing, live-grub scarfing fellows who as a whole are probably more suited
to be the subject of a first person kill fest than the peace-loving can’t-we-
all-just-coexist Federation folks.
As the game starts out you’re a new freshman inductee into the Honor Guard,
the Empire’s most elite group of warriors and bodyguards to the Emperor (of
course the Klingon Empire hasn’t HAD an Emperor for a couple hundred years,
but that’s another story). It seems someone has made an assassination attempt
on the Empire’s head honcho Supreme Chancellor Gowron. The conspiracy runs
deep, and not even the members of the Council or the Honor Guard can be
trusted. Except you, of course, since you just got here and have no idea
what’s going on. That’s why Honor Guard leader Korek has assigned you to track
down the assassins and give them a taste of vengeance, Klingon style. What
follows is a sonic disruptor bolt filled, pink blood spilling spree through
various Klingon locations such as a Klingon suburb, the penal asteroid Rura
Penthe, and even the interior of a Bird of Prey spaceship. Although the way
you’ll be alternatively taunted and ordered around by your commander Kurn,
fight your way through an alien conspiracy, and ultimately face off with a
pair of familiar faces from Generations who you’d think would be dead by now.
As a new member of the 'Klingon Honor Guard', the player is given the mission of foiling a plot to assassinate Chancellor Gowron. During the course of the game, the player encounters a variety of environments, including planet surfaces, caverns, enemy ships, and space stations. Enemies include rival Klingons (including members of the House of Duras), Andorians, attack robots, Nausicaans, Letheans, and various hostile creatures.[1] The game includes twenty missions across 26 maps.[2] Weapons that the player can use include disruptors, the Klingon Bat'leth, grenade launchers, and a gun which creates a miniature black hole.
