Spiritfarer
### Plot
In Spiritfarer we take on the role of Stella, who is the title carrier of souls, following the example of Charon, known from Greek mythology. The girl transports the dead to a place where they will experience their posthumous existence, often befriending them along the way and learning about their unique stories.
### Mechanics
In Spiritfarer we observe the action from the side, from the side-scroll perspective. The main purpose of the game is to transport the characters you meet to the beyond worlds on board a hand-built boat and to discover their stories. The creators made sure that a unique, moving story was connected with each of the characters.
During the game, we also manage the boat and get or create the things we need by exploring the locations using the method characteristic of classic two-dimensional platform games. We can engage in mining, collect items, cook and weave, and create or find gifts for our passengers.
As the game progresses, we improve our boat and change the look of both the vehicle, Stella and the accompanying cat named Daffodil.
### Game modes
At Spiritfarer we can play alone or with others. The basis of the game is a feature campaign, which can be played either as a single player or as part of a two-person, local cooperation module. In such a situation the other player takes on the role of Daffodil.
### Technical aspects
Spiritfarer has a characteristic, two-dimensional graphic design, based mainly on handmade illustrations. Graphics is distinguished by a lively palette of colours and a fairytale atmosphere reminiscent of animated films. In the game we meet many heroes in the form of anthropomorphic animals, so the title of Thunder Lotus studio can evoke associations with, for example, the film work of Ghibli studio.
You play Stella, ferrymaster to the deceased, a Spiritfarer. Build a boat to explore the world, pick up spirits, and release them into the afterlife. Gather, produce, and consume resources while you guide your passengers across mystical seas. Join the adventure as Daffodil the cat, in two-player cooperative play. Spend relaxing quality time with your spirit passengers, building and tending to your relationships, and, ultimately, learn how to say goodbye to your cherished friends.
