Slingshot Racing is an unusual racing game. The production was developed by Snowbolt Interactive studio.
The game allows you to take part in the steampunk racing of cars sliding along sharp corners. The vehicles do not have engines and are largely inert. That’s why we use a cannon to shoot a line with a hook that attaches itself to strategically located piles. The whole game consists in choosing the right moment of shooting and releasing the line and the differences, even a fraction of a second, have a great influence on the outcome of the competition.
Slingshot Racing offers an extensive career mode in which we have to win a total of eighty races and many of them have additional tasks to complete. We can also compete on our own against Artificial Intelligence or try our hand at a competition that requires the collection of a certain amount of objects scattered on the track before the time limit expires.
There were also options to compete with other users. This is done in two ways. The first one is an attempt to beat someone else’s records taken from constantly updated online rankings. The second option is a traditional multiplayer with up to four players racing on one map. Interestingly, this is not only done through the network. Simple control makes it possible to introduce the function of competition on one device, where each participant of the game receives their own button.
Slingshot Racing has a very attractive graphic design. The backgrounds are made in full 2D detail, but with three-dimensional light and shadow effects, ensuring a pleasing end result.
