Sky Punks is an Android-based endless runner with elements of racing games. The production was developed by Fathom Interactive studio and released by Rovio. The project uses a free model with micropayments.
The game is an extension of the brand launched by the browser-based racing game Sky Pirates of Neo Terra Racing. The action is set in an unusual science-fiction universe, where next to people live numerous other breeds resembling humanoid animals. The authors did not bother to create the storyline and the whole game comes down to rallies through a track full of dangers and pitfalls, on which we rush with levitating cars.
Sky Punks draws inspiration from the endless runner genre. As a result, our machine automatically flies forward along a predetermined route, and we only use gestures to control which of the three lanes the car is to be on. The tracks are full of various threats, such as terrain obstacles, precipices or enemies attacking us. In practice it is impossible to win. Maps are generated randomly and never end, so sooner or later we make one mistake too many and the rally ends in a crash. The game is about achieving the highest possible score in order to beat your own records or those achieved by other users.
Numerous collectible items are scattered on the tracks. Some of them are currency, allowing you to buy ever faster machines and improve your existing ones, while others provide short term facilitation during the competition. The game allows you to control several different characters, but they only differ in appearance. Initially, we have only a handful of heroes, but further characters and costumes can be gained by being successful during the game.
