## Description
_Shtyrlitz_ is an adventure game and a parody of the popular Soviet
television series _Seventeen Moments of Spring_ , itself based on the novel
with the same name by Yulian Semyonov. The book and its TV adaptation tells a
serious and dramatic story focusing on Colonel Isayev, a Soviet officer sent
as an undercover agent to Nazi Germany during World War II. Having assumed the
name of Max Otto von Stierlitz, he infiltrates the top ranks of the Nazi
foreign intelligence and subsequently foils the enemy’s plans.
Rather than basing itself on the actual story, the game follows the tone and
the style of the numerous jokes exploiting the series’ popularity and its
recognizable features (Stierlitz’s deductive abilities, deadpan commentary of
the narrator, etc.), liberally incorporating elements of the Soviet culture in
various epochs, as well as throwing in many anachronisms and cross-references
to other popular characters and jokes. The game has a simple interface that
uses two mouse buttons for interaction. Inventory-based puzzles as well as
dialogues occupy the largest portion of the game, following the tradition of
LucasArts’ adventures.
