Designed by Aardvark Software, Sharkey’s 3D Pool is one of the first billiard simulation productions to feature a three-dimensional look at the table.
The title offers three variants of struggle – a tournament, where the title of the best player competes in the cup system, an ordinary match in which we choose the opponent ourselves (the role of a rival can be played by both the computer and the other person) and the so-called trick-shot, i.e. a game consisting in pocketing balls in a predetermined situation on the table. In the latter case, there are 20 sets of predefined actions, and there is an option to change the ball settings using the product’s built-in editor. In the remaining modes of the game is ruled by the most popular “eight” and definitely less popular “nine”. The regular match variant also offers “rotation” and “fourteen plus one” – both of these options are not available in the tournament.
The biggest attraction of the game is the ability to rotate the camera at any angle with a mouse or an icon set located at the top of the screen, because the table in the work of Aadvark Software is fully three-dimensional (the option of a traditional look from above is also present). The view can be zoomed in and out, which undoubtedly makes it easier to evaluate the current layout of the balls. When it comes to the basic rules, Sharkey’s 3D Pool offers exactly what it should be: the player decides not only the direction and strength of the impact, but also the precise point at which the stick comes into contact with the white ball. According to the current rules, in 14.1 you have to additionally declare the ball and the bow before shooting.
