Secrets of the Vatican: The Holy Lance is another production from a series of casual adventures by Anuman Interactive. Authentic stories about the Nazis’ search for mystical artifacts became a source of inspiration for the artists.
The action of the game was set in the realities of World War II. In the face of an imminent disaster, the Nazis will sweep through Europe in search of the Spear of Destiny. Legend has it that the person holding the weapon that the Roman legionnaire pierced the side of the crucified Jesus will be invincible. Concerned about the development of events, the church authorities order the Vatican art historian, Father Bellarmo Bagatti, to find the artifact before it reaches the hands of the Nazis.
Following the story, the player travels across war-torn Europe visiting 24 locations in Paris, Rome, Istanbul and Berlin. The game is based primarily on puzzles such as hidden objects, in which cleverly camouflaged objects should be found in the pictures.
Secrets of the Vatican: The Holy Lance uses solutions also used in Anuman Interactive’s earlier casual adventures. Similarities can be seen in the game mechanics, user interface and the way of presentation (two-dimensional, hand drawn backgrounds and simple animations).
Note: the game is also available in an improved version – Extended Edition. It is distinguished by graphic design remastered to the High Definition standard and additional puzzles to be solved.
