Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San is an original platform developed by independent developer Christophe Galati. The production released by Nicalis is a tribute to the classics of the genre, known to the owners of the first Game Boya and Game Boya Color. The title appeared, among others, on the PC and Switch platforms.
### Story
Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San takes players into a fantastic world where there is a constant struggle between people and intelligent octopuses \- it is the other side of the conflict that represents the main character, the title character Mr. Tako. One stormy night, the protagonist saved a sinking woman, and the fairy watched him – she decided to reward him with unique abilities allowing him to survive on the surface. Heros decided to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about people, which might allow him to put an end to the conflict between the two races once and for all.
### Mechanics
In the Save me Mr Tako released on the PC and Switch platform: Tasukete Tako-San action we observe from the side. The gameplay scheme does not differ from the assumptions developed for the needs of classic side-scroll platformers – Mr. Tako travels through different levels located in six different worlds, bypasses numerous dangers, conducts conversations with encountered characters (and sometimes takes on missions from them), solves riddles and fights with encountered opponents.
The tires he treats with ink are transformed into platforms that the hero can jump on to get to higher places. It is worth remembering, however, that while defeating a serial adversary is not a major problem for him, sending one of the nineteen bosses to that world is a slightly more complicated task requiring, above all, the development of effective tactics. In this case, it is helpful to equip the protagonist with one of the fifty hats that guarantee him additional skills \- for example, the archer’s hat allows him to send a shot towards his enemies.
### Game modes
The basic variant of the Save me Mr Tako game: Tasukete Tako-San is a feature mode. In addition, the Runner module (allowing you to go through individual stages on time) and a special mode consisting only of duels with successive bosses are waiting to be checked.
### Technical issues
As mentioned earlier, Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San draws on a handful of platformers released for Game Boy and Game Boy Color consoles. For this reason, the two-dimensional graphic design of this production is characterized by simplicity and economical color palette (the Game Boya Color LCD screen allowed to display up to four colors at the same time) – its characteristic feature are also sprites of sizes corresponding to those used on cult handhelds of Nintendo. The same applies to the soundtrack, which complements the retro style.
