Rokko Chan
Rokko Chan ( ロッコちゃん) is a 2D side-scrolling platformer made in Flash. While
it is technically not a Mega Man fangame, as it lacks any official characters
from the series, it is largely considered by many to be one, as its art style
and many of its core gameplay elements are borrowed from the series. Players
take control of the titular Rokko Chan, a robot with a human’s memories, and
battle against six Robot Masters released by the nefarious Dr. Mad in his
quest for military domination of the world.
As aforementioned, the game takes its core jumping-and-shooting elements
straight from earlier Mega Man games; however, there is one key difference
that takes inspiration from the Mega Man X series: Rokko Chan has the ability
to perform a high-speed dash, which she can then jump out of to carry her
momentum even further forward. The trade-off of this is that when she does not
jump out of a dash, she can jump significantly higher, making both of them
viable movement options. As always, players may challenge the game’s six Robot
Masters (Hockey Man, Volcano Man, Lightning Man, Jet Man, Rolling Man, and
Forest Man) in any order they choose and claim their weapons by defeating them
before battling Dr. Mad himself in his fortress.
