Rocket Ranger Reloaded is a remake of Cinemaware’s classic action game, which debuted in 1988 and gained both recognition of the industry (e.g. Golden Joystick award) and the players themselves. The new version of the game is the responsibility of the experienced team of the resurrected Cinemaware studio, who have achieved such hits as NBA Jam, Shadow Man, Wings! or Defender of the Crown. The production of the title was completed thanks to the support of Kickstarter users.
The action of the game takes place in an alternative reality, in which thanks to the cosmic mineral called lunarium, Nazi Germany won the Second World War and in a short time captured virtually the entire globe. Many years later, the main character receives a mysterious parcel from the future, from which he learns that thanks to devices developed in secret by the Nazis, he can go back into the past and change the course of history. Its task will be to penetrate secret German military bases in order to sabotage and recover all components of the weapons being developed there. He will be assisted in this task by the gadgets received together with the shipment, headed by a prototype jet backpack.
The game combines elements of shooting, adventure and strategy, and most of the time we spend in the air attacking Nazi targets such as Luftwaffe planes and airships. The game takes place both in the open space and inside the bases, and during the fight we use a whole mass of weapons, gadgets and various equipment. The strategic element of the game comes down to managing a network of agents who do the black work, determining where the equipment we are looking for is located. During the game, we can also conduct laboratory research and develop better and better types of weapons and rockets.
Rocket Ranger Reloaded was completely redesigned, using original materials from years ago, so that the new version of the game remained true to the spirit of the original. The creators, however, did not limit themselves to adjusting the audio-visual setting, but introduced a whole lot of completely new elements to make the game more attractive. New threads, locations and characters have appeared in the game. New action sequences have been introduced and the strategic aspect of the game has been significantly deepened. The whole is complemented by weapons, equipment, costumes and vehicles absent in the original version.
