Pocket Platoons is a strategy game by Korean Picneko Creative studio, maintained in the atmosphere of World War II. The second mobile title published by En Masse Entertainment (the first is the Fruit Attacks shooter), the publisher of the successful MMO TERA PC game, was made available on smartphones and tablets in a free model with optional micropayments.
At Pocket Platoons, we join one of the two factions, the Allies or Axis States, and take part in the largest armed conflict in history. We do this not only as part of an extensive solo campaign (divided into more than 300 stages and offering hundreds of missions to complete), but also as an interestingly executed multiplayer, allowing the possibility of fighting in PvP mode, as well as coalition battles, in which up to ten players can take part (five on each side of the conflict).
As far as the basic gameplay is concerned, Pocket Platoons does not differ too much from the typical representatives of the mobile strategy game genre. Our basic activity is the systematic development of the base (e.g. construction of defensive structures, construction of buildings). Properly equipped headquarters is a perfect place to produce and improve units of the army, as well as to train officers who can change the situation on the battlefield in an instant.
For the needs of Pocket Platoons, the creators developed an extensive and developmental combat system. The clashes, divided into rounds, take place on small maps, divided into two parts. On one of them we place our units, taking into account the randomly generated system of guards and obstacles, while the other is occupied by a rival. The combat system is characterized by tactical depth, resulting, among other things, from the large variety of units that we put up for combat.
A characteristic feature of the game is a two-dimensional graphic design, maintained in a slightly caricatured style, reminiscent of super deformed technique. As a result, the figures of soldiers, vehicles of all kinds and war machines look very cartoon-like.
