Platoon: The 1st Airborne Cavalry Division in Vietnam is a real-time strategy in which the player becomes a young American soldier serving in Vietnam (1965-1968) in the First Air Cavalry Division. Initially, he is an ordinary recruit, but by carrying out further missions he gains experience and advancement in the military hierarchy, and finally as a lieutenant he takes command of the whole platoon (up to 30 soldiers). A total of 15 combat missions were prepared for the passage. Under our command there are various soldiers, i.e. snipers, sappers, commandos, machine gun service, etc.; and all the equipment at that time, including helicopters, M113 armoured transporters and M48 Patton tanks. The success of any task depends on the skilful use of these weapons and possible artillery and airborne support. The experience of soldiers also plays a significant role, growing with the number of completed missions.
Platoon is made using a modified graphic engine used in the next Digital Reality game – Haegemonia: Legions of Iron. The action takes place in a fully three-dimensional environment, the type of terrain (jungle, swamps, rice fields, etc.) has been opened in detail, the atmospheric conditions prevailing in this climate zone (monsoon, fog, strong wind, etc.) and a realistic representation of the way soldiers move (motion capture technology, more than 400 animations of the characters) have also been taken care of.
