Moxrealm is a work in progress game. Download the free demo from the website here.
Moxrealm’s terrain is a bit unusual. It’s not block-based, it’s smooth. You can still use blocks if you’d like of course, but the generated terrain looks quite natural. You can build in either smooth voxels or blocks, and this allows you to build structures that would be otherwise impossible in block-only games. In the future, multiple types of voxels will be supported (think stairs, 45 degree slopes, etc), enabling you to build detailed creations.
Moxrealm is mod based. Right now, the demos have plug-in terrain materials that anyone can easily add or modify. Later on, the game will feature plug-in entities, terrain features, HUD elements, and more. Mods are organized into packages, and a versioning system enables mod authors to reference other people’s work in an organized manner.
Right now, Moxrealm is purely a creativity game. However, the focus of this project is to create a new survival-based experience. There will be combat, LOTS of pre-generated places for you to explore at realistic scale, a new invention-based crafting system, and much, much more. In order to survive in the final game, you’ll have to upgrade your technology to match threats in the world and conquer new territories.
Moxrealm will have multiplayer in the future. The goal is to create a multiplayer experience with minimal latency so PVP is possible. Mods will be possible over multiplayer if the authors support it (which is easy to do!).
