Monster Truck Maniax is a race for hard, real guys who value powerful torque, giant wheels and the smell of petrol more than fast cars and beautiful women. The programme prepared by the Swedish group Legendo Entertainment belongs to the genre of off-road rally games and has aspirations to compete with such positions as Grand Raid Offroad or Colin McRae: DIRT. The creators describe their title as a “brutal but intuitive” racing game, which, in free translation, means that the game is primarily intended to provide a fast, exciting gameplay without any detailed insight into the details of the driving model.
Our vehicles at MTM are, of course, the title monster trucks, huge products of the American entertainment and car industry. Based on real, series-produced cars such as Ford Super Duty (BigFoot), Chevrolet S10 PickUp (Equalizer) or Chevrolet Panel (GraveDigger), and equipped with monstrous equipment (engines, wheels, suspension, frames), they entertain crowds of thirsty fans with their unbelievable possibilities. The programme tries to reflect this type of event as faithfully as possible, with all the accompanying environment – rich commentary and spontaneously reacting audience. Vehicles of this type frequently undergo spectacular crashes, which usually finish with impressive acrobatics in the air. In Monster Truck Maniax this element could not be missing – the vehicles are subject to various damages, and a complex model of destruction is responsible for visualizing this destruction. Considering the complicated routes, the technically difficult terrain, and the considerable dimensions of the wagons in the game, it often comes to demolish the vehicle.
As befits a modern racing game, MTM uses a powerful physical engine, positively influencing the experience of controlling mechanical monsters. This solution is called PhysX and has already been used in many well-known titles, including Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport and Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends. The use of the proven AGEIA patent is a strong point of the program. A similar assessment can also be made of the visual setting, which benefits from the advantages of the new generation of graphic stations. In addition, Monster Truck Maniax has built-in multiplayer support, allowing you to play with other players through a sophisticated lobby.
