## About This Game
Finally the long awaited prequel to Jesus Christ RPG is out! Play as Lucifer,
the devious dark angel, in this retro arcade styled four-directional shooter.
Relive the glory of old games while enjoying the conveniences of our modern HD
output.
Very loosely based on John Milton’s Paradise Lost, this game intersperses
quiet and contemplative conversations with the high-octane shmup action of
retro arcade games. SIxty-two levels await for you. Are you tough enough to
become the dark prince of hell?

## technical Background
I started making games back in 2013 using RPGMaker when I created the Jesus
Christ RPG Trilogy. Wanting to diversify my output I moved to other game
making programs such as Construct2 and RenPy. I had a ton of fun making games
using these apps but I started to wonder if I could make my own library of
classes and just use a framework instead. Back in 2018 I came across a video
on Youtube about Panda3D. It was in a channel called “Game From Scratch”. I
understood right there and then that the time had come. I set out to make a
full JRPG prequel to my only successful game series. From October 2018 until
November 2019, I worked on a JRPG version of “Lucifer: Paradise Lost”. You can
find a parallel build in my github, if you search for ” panda3d-ness-rpg “.
But after a year of work and no clear end in sight, I decided to radically
downsize the scope of the project and release the same story as a shmup. The
main inspiration came from a NES game called “Arkista’s Ring”. An amazing
adventure that felt a lot like a beefed-up “Tower of Druaga” without all the
complexities of the original “Legend of Zelda”. Another inspiration came from
the NES game “Warpman”, a precursor to Bomberman, where the bombing stages
alternate with some shmup arenas.
If you’re curious about how I structure my code, please visit my github page,
by searching for ” wholetonegames ” on their website. Thank you for your
support throughout the years and for your interest in the technical aspects of
this game. If you have any queries or feedback, please let me know in the
forums or via email.
