Life Is Strange: Episode 2 – Out of Time
Out of Time is the second episode of the five-part episodic adventure
series Life Is Strange. It is DLC for the first episode Life Is Strange:
Episode 1 – Chrysalis and it is only available separately for the PlayStation
versions. For the other platforms it can be acquired through Life Is Strange:
Season Pass or Life Is Strange: Complete Season.
The episode starts with a short recap of the previous events, customized for
each player based on the decisions they took in the first game. The previous
choices are also often carried over in the conversations and in some cases Max
is able to still admit to a lie from the previous episode. This episode
focuses mostly on Max and Chloe as they bond again. Chloe wants Max to
experiment with her powers, but she discovers there are limitations and starts
to suffer nosebleeds after using it too often. Many locations and characters
return, but there are also new ones. The two final, previously unknown
characters are opened up in Max’ diary: Chloe’s mother Joyce and the drug
dealer Frank. After waking up and some time in the dorm, Max has the
opportunity to visit the Two Whales Dinner owned by Joyce. Chloe and Max then
go to a junkyard and finally Max ends up at school again. After the unexpected
snow in the first episode, the strange phenomena continue with an unannounced
solar eclipse.
The gameplay is identical to the first episode with the time rewinding
mechanic, important and minor choices and the way she can interact with
people. There is a new page with locations in her book, optional photos to
take and her diary is furthered based on the decisions. As with the first
episode it ends with a short preview of what’s coming next.
