## Description
_Kurusetra_ is Indonesia’s first online multiplayer web and WAP-based
strategy game, using Hindu-Javanese influences of the Mahabharata Sanskrit
epic of ancient India as its theme, specifically the Bharatayuddha war.
Each player controls a kingdom of a specific mythological race randomly placed
within a _Dewan Raja_ (Council of Kings) or sector which may consist a maximum
of 20 kingdoms. A kingdom consists of (among others) _depa_ (land), soldiers,
and buildings, all contributing to the overall kingdom’s defensive and
offensive strength. Each sector may elect a _sesepuh_ (elder) who may declare
war against other sectors. A player’s primary goal is to create a strong
kingdom by capturing enemy _depa_ and strengthening it with soldiers and
buildings. Rankings are available to inform players of their kingdom and
sector strength.
Actions are real-time in a persistent universe; a player may carry-out actions
that will take a certain amount of time to re-charge; for example, attacking
with ground troops may only be carried out once every one hour. Kingdoms may
be attacked even when the kingdom’s owner is offline.
The (original) selectable races in _Kurusetra_ are:
* Dedemit
The _Dedemit_ (Undead) represent creatures from the spirit world. They never
die in battle nor do they need food to maintain their troops, however they
lack defensive combat abilities.
* Kurawa
The _Kurawa_ represent a race specializing in espionage and covert operations.
They have a better chance in conducting non-combat offensive tactics against
enemy kingdoms, such as sabotage.
* Ksatria
The _Ksatria_ (Knights) represent the human race. Being the most intelligent
of all races, they specialize in learning and gaining faster research results.
* Jatayu
The _Jatayu_ are a bird-race whose name comes is derived from an Indian demi-
god. They are considered the fastest race in _Kurusetra_ and may attack and
return from battle much faster than other races (two attacks per hour).
* Raksasa
The _Raksasa_ (Giants) are the largest beings and thus most powerful race. Due
to their size, they also are capable of building structures faster than other
races.
* Wanamarta
The _Wanamarta_ are magical beings capable of the most destructive sorceries
compared to other races.
After a certain period of time, the game will reset and player will start with
new kingdoms. However, before this is done, the strongest kingdoms will have a
chance to compete with each other in _Gunung Semeru_ (Mount Semeru) for a
grand prize. Veteran players may opt to remain in the same sector or be
reassigned to a new sector when the game is reset. The game later introduced
an optional paid version (originally Rp. 50,000,- per month) with significant
added features compared to the original free version, both playable in the
same universe. As of 2006, _Kurusetra_ became defunct.
