## Description
_Just Dance Now_ is the first mobile game in the _Just Dance_ series. Players
perform dance routines, mimicking the moves of on-screen performers, to earn
points. It is free-to-play and uses the accelerometer/gyroscope of mobile
devices as the controller for the game. Players hold the device in their hands
and connect to a room accessed through the internet. This can be done for solo
games, playing with other players worldwide, or a large group of people
(virtually unlimited in number) playing in a single room. A screen such as a
TV or a monitor is needed to display the actual game, platform independent and
accessed through a browser, as the mobile device is mainly used for tracking
the dance moves. When players are in a single room they share the screen. It
is possible to play with random people online or to provide a room number to
friends to join.
At the start a profile needs to be made with a name and an avatar (optionally
a Facebook profile picture by connecting to the service). New avatars are
unlocked by completing songs. The game keeps detailed statistics of all
performances and there are leaderboards to compare scores with friends or
worldwide. Scores can also be sent to friends as challenges. Players can also
record a short video of themselves dancing and share it with friends.
Performances are divided into solo performances (all players follow the same
routine), duets or with four different routines simultaneously. Players keep
the device in their right hand mimicking the on-screen performers as if they
are a mirror image. The hand is also highlighted on the performer to keep
track of it. The next moves always appears on the right for players to
anticipate them. They are rated as OK, good or perfect when performed
correctly, based on the accuracy. This is shown on the screen as well as on
the device. Up to five stars can be earned per track and progress is shown
through a vertical bar on both screens. Lyrics are also shown on the large
screen.
As a free-to-play game there is a limited amount of free tracks available of
the many pop songs and they are rotated regularly. Certain tracks are
sponsored and are unlocked when players dance to any song for several days in
a row. Individual tracks do no need to be bought as in-app purchases. Instead
players buy a VIP subscription for a month, three months or a year. A
subscription unlocks all tracks right away and removes advertisements. In
addition, only one player in a single room needs to have a VIP subscription
(as a host) to let all other players or friends join in for any track.
