Juniper Crescent: The Sapphire Claw is a classic two-dimensional adventure game involving Steve Ince, an industry veteran, involved in projects such as Beneath a Steel Sky, The Broken Sword trilogy or In Cold Blood. The idea to create the game and the characters appearing in it was taken from Juniper Crescent’s comic book, written by Steve Ince.
The main character of the game is Scout, a one-eyed cat, who is well known among his friends for telling unbelievable stories, of course with each other in the lead role. So when it comes to a situation in which the lives of his friends are endangered, there is nothing else left for him, but to set off on an adventure. In Juniper Crescent: The Sapphire Claw we meet a group of animals travelling from the calm Juniper Crescent to exotic and unfriendly lands in search of the legendary cat’s artefact – the eponymous Sapphire Claw. The plans of our cheerful group is trying to crucify the Great Cat and a band of his henchmen, cruel dogs.
During the game, the player has the opportunity to control the actions of not only Scout, but also other characters from the game, using at the right time their unique abilities and skills. The Blinky mouse you meet at the beginning of the game is of great help to us. Blinky is an invaluable source of hints during the game and a commentator of our actions so far. High-resolution environments delight the player’s eye, and hand-drawn, cartoon graphics give the game a unique atmosphere. In addition, the creators have placed a large number of so-called Easter Eggs in the game. Finding them will be another challenge for players.
The Sapphire Claw was created using development tools and a Wintermute engine.
