## Description
_InterrOUGation_ is a browser game released during the massive protests that
took place in Romania in early 2017. The game begins with the Government about
to issue a new emergency ordinance and, “because it is a fantasy game”, the
player being invited, as the protesters’ representative, to negotiations with
the president of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Liviu Dragnea, Prime
Minister Sorin Grindeanu, and Florin Iordache, who was the Minister of Justice
when the emergency ordinance which sparked the protests was issued and who
eventually resigned. The game is timed, the ordinance being issued if the
player fails to obtain a different outcome within 15 minutes.
The player can ask questions and make statements, and a set of four measures
are also available at any time, selecting them representing the player making
use of their civil society contacts to put pressure on those being negotiated
with. Each of the three subjects has values for servility, shame and fear, and
the number of people protesting is also being tracked, these values changing
according to the player’s questions and statements and the civil society
measures used, and determining the answers given. If a subject is pushed too
hard, he will leave the negotiations and therefore make it impossible to
obtain the positive outcome related to him. The discussions take place with
each of the three separately, but the player is able to switch between them at
will and may also use the answers given by one to influence another.
The game has five possible endings, including the “failure” one, in case the
15 minutes expire without another being obtained. Since being successful in
the negotiations with any of the three subjects triggers the corresponding
ending, it is not possible to obtain multiple positive outcomes in a single
game, finding them all requiring playing the game multiple times.
