Incredi Basketball is a proposal of Idoru studio addressed to basketball enthusiasts who do not necessarily like realistic simulations of the NBA 2K series. The title is a peculiar mix of elements from earlier basketball achievements of the Italian developer, including ACB Total and The Minis.
The game offers three variants of fun – training (including 3 mini-games: throws competition, 1 for 1 and free play), a quick match and a tournament. In the latter case, players can take part in predefined game cycles or create their own competitions. The list of available teams includes 18 national teams, including the United States, Spain, Brazil and Canada. However, the lack of an official license made it impossible to enter the names and likenesses of authentic competitors.
The gameplay is kept in an arcade style. The player control system has been simplified as much as possible – you can move around the pitch, pass the ball, make a throw or try to capture the ball by steering the basketball player’s actions. A variety of power-ups appear on the pitch from time to time, allowing you to increase your score three times, make a spectacular jump with a rocket backpack or block your opponents’ access to the basket.
Apart from the possibility of competing with computer artificial intelligence, Incredi Basketball creators have also prepared the option of struggling with living opponents. A maximum of four players can participate in a multiplayer game on one computer.
Incredi Basketball stands out from the competition in the production of cartoon visuals, made with the use of goal-shading technology. Similar solution Idoru developers used earlier in The Minis, but this time they tempted for more natural-looking figures of basketball players.
