Game Analysis | I Spy Spooky Mansion is a search and find PC game created in 1999 by Scholastic based on the I Spy books. In the game the player is locked in a haunted mansion. They search the various rooms of the mansion for the objects specified on the bottom of the screen. Once all of the objects in an area have been found, a skeleton (which is actually the almost whispered narrator voice you hear in every puzzle) appears and awards the player with a puzzle piece. Once the player has collected all of the puzzle pieces, they may combine them to find instructions leading to the final game, which is a matching game. Once the matching game is complete, the player must ask the "Get-Out Ghost", a large transparent skeleton, for help. The Get-Out Ghost propels the player out the chimney of the mansion, and the game is over. | |

This game was good. You walk into a spooky mansion owned by Skelly. Then you find all his or her things. Couldn’t tell the gender as it was a skeleton and it’s voice could have gone either way. Just like the I Spy books, the game gives you riddles of things to find in a set location. Every location has a mini game or two when looking for things. The mini games are sort of annoying and sometimes a buzz kill. The only reason some could be difficult is the wonky motion controls. That three plate spinning game in the image gallery is one of the hardest mini games in I Spy Spooky Mansion.
Graphics were not god at all. but they didn’t need to be. Music and sounds worked.
Conclusion: Overall the game was fun despite its low budget. It is best to play at a family gathering or with a group of younger kids or older adults who are not hardcore gamers.
