I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1NIT!!!1
“Welcome to my game.
I put zombies in it for your pain.
They come shambling out from the side.
And you better shoot them, or you’re gonna die.”
I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 is a twinstick shooter in the mold of
Robotron 2084 and Geometry Wars, where up to four players face an onslaught of
zombies and other increasingly bizarre enemies coming from all directions. The
game is played on a static field, and enemies periodically drop various items
when killed, including a half-dozen kinds of ammo-limited weapons, shields,
speed boosters, and extra lives.
There are quite a few games out there like this, but what sets this one apart
is the soundtrack and its connection with the action onscreen. The music
starts off as a silly rock tune with a voice singing about the game itself (”
I made this game using XNA, it’s just a dollar… “) but eventually descends
into prog-rock psychedelia, and it soon becomes apparent that the waves of
enemies and the changes of the background are directly tied to the beat and
mood of the song. The ultimate goal of the game is to survive until the end of
the 13-minute track and get the highest score possible. High scores are saved
per profile.
