Solo play review:
After I managed to fix some issues with the game I had (no videos running etc – fixed by window mode), I finall started playing nicely. Well the start was great, seeing what I can do, survival etc. At start I was owning the zombies without any major issues, then it became harder and also the going through tons of zombies became the problem, because you need to get better weapons, armor and stuff for sure, otherwise you are screwed. You travel a lot and here goes the problem, the zombies never stop spawning even when you cleared that spot a while ago. Yes, they are zombies, this is about killing zombies, hordes of them, but it quickly became huge annoyance unfortunately. Going through the same thing over and over again.
I was actually thinking about not finishing this game because how much of doing the same thing over and over again on the same spot became annoying. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun killing them and also there is the thing about day/night changes. You need to also clear the safe spot before you can make it your own and sleep there, sometimes that was really hard, didn’t mind that much because I knew it’s a goal to get it and they will stop spawning at some point.
Crafting in this game was based on combing stuff together either you experimenting or finding the books placed by Kovak’s, who became your guide. And here lied another problem I had with this game – finding stuff. I found it as annoyance more then fun, and main reasons for it were – if you played zoomout, you barely saw what you are picking up and also you couldn’t just explore because you had to keep killing zombies over and over again eventhough you already killed them at that spot while ago. I decided to go with some guide where to find what so I could build better equipment because killing zombies became challenging.
The atmosphere and graphic of the game was pretty decent. You could also play more heroes and some had extra weapons or stuff you could use only with that “class”.
What I would love to be better in this game would be that zombies stop respawning to rapidly and killing them becomes boring and annoying more then fun as it was in the beginning. That would make many stuff in the game much more fun for me for sure. Some map troubles, but that was just small stuff. As for the last “boss event”. Well it was something I kinda expected although some story things surprised me, so kudos on this.
It has interesting stuff going on for the game so I recommend it to play though, but like I said, less zombies would be more fun and make it more special. Oh and one last thing – what I also liked was that the survival bars didn’t ever became annoynce. You want drink? Easy to get, food? sure, not that hard etc. And also it gave me a lot of time to fix that. Crafting was also interesting and was nice that you had to go to the world and find and combine stuff and explore and experiment.
6/10 – Fair game
