Highway Getaway

Highway Getaway is a mobile AND and iOS arcade game combining elements of racing games and the genre of endless runner. The production uses a free model with micropayments and was developed by the Polish studio Vivid Games, i.e. by Ski Jumping Pro, Godfire: Rise of Prometheus and the Real Boxing series. The Hungarian Invictus Games team helped in the work.

### Mechanics

In the game we play the role of a car driver trying to escape the police chasing him. His task is not an easy one, because the chase takes place on streets with a lot of traffic, so one mistake is enough to pass a crash. As befits an endless runner game, routes are generated randomly and never end. All the fun comes down to trying to cover as long distance as possible and beating point records worked out by yourself or the rest of the community.

The AND and iOS Highway Getaway is played in vertical orientation, and the events are observed from a camera located behind the boot of the car. The vehicle automatically flashes forward and we use gestures to change the track to avoid a collision or to collect a valuable object, for example. The authors offered two control systems, one based on touching the right places on the screen and the other on drawing short lines. Both are designed so that you can play with one hand.

During the escape, the driver gradually increases the level of infamy. High speeds and dangerous manoeuvres make us an increasing priority for the police, but at the same time we are rewarded with money paid by a TV station making a chase show.

We invest the money we earn in unlocking new cars and various improvements. In total, there are ten cars to get and their appearance can be modified to a large extent. In addition to fighting for records, players can also carry out lavishly rewarded missions, of which there are more than 200. They are based on performing specific tasks while driving.

### Technical issues

The strength of Highway Getaway is the quality of workmanship. The authors offered attractive three-dimensional graphics, and the fun is diversified by a large variety of locations, including cities, canyons and industrial areas.
