Hafen 2011 is a production that combines the features of simulation and not too complicated economic strategy, in which the player deals with managing the chosen port. The preparation of this game is the responsibility of the German astragon Software development studio, known mainly for its various simulators (excavators, garbage trucks, police, farm, fire brigade and many others).
The manufacturer made available to the player about twenty different ports, among which there were both maritime and inland objects. Different ports also differ in size and adaptability to handle different types of ships. The main assumption of the game is to handle emerging watercraft, mainly for unloading and loading of various goods, such as containers or cars. In addition, you can specialize in the long-term storage of goods within the port area.
Six basic types of machinery are used to carry out the activities described above, including forklifts, trucks and, finally, large port cranes. Choosing the right equipment for your current needs is all the more important as quickly dealing with the assigned tasks allows you to get more cash. The funds gained can be used to purchase new machines or to employ specialised workers.
Depending on personal preferences, the player can take full control over port workers and available equipment, or commission all tasks to their subordinates, supervising only their actions. The competition takes place in a fully three-dimensional environment where you can move around freely.
