## Description
In the quite distant future, the universe is governed by an organisation known
as the Foundation. You are Jack Bludfield, one of its former agents, now
turned bounty hunter. You have now heard that your old partner, Xocann, has
escaped from his prison planet. To exact revenge on Xocann, who once murdered
your woman and left you to die, you take it on you to track him down. You
start out in New York, where you must fool security guards and security
systems, and track down someone who can give you a clue where to go next.
For an adventure game, Fugitif uses a rather unique icon-based system. The
entire screen is filled with still pictures of what you see, and you move from
screen to screen using the cursor keys. All system messages are printed on the
icon screen, from which you execute all commands bar movement. The command
screen contains 20 icons which represent all the different verbs of your
glossary. Double click a verb to go to another set of icons, representing all
the usual objects you can expect to find. Apart from the 19 standard objects,
more icons can pop up according to what can be found on a particular screen or
in your inventory. It is possible to manipulate several objects at once with
one verb, allowing you to build intricate actions such as moving a knocked-out
guard’s hand to an electronic lock requiring a particular biometric signature.
On the other hand, the wealth of actions and objects available at all times
can be rather overwhelming.
Fugitif contains graphics drawn in the Amstrad’s high resolution mode, which
usually only allows 4 colours, but innovates by extending the colour pallette
using smart interrupt programming.
