Shooting Self 2 is the second installment of a series of arcade games, known among western players under the title of Froggy Castle. Developers from Snowstep Developmnet studio remained true to the basic assumptions of the game from the first part released in 2003, enriching it with a number of new options.
The action of the game was set after the events presented in the Shooting Self. After the army of flying frogs was defeated to the kingdom of hamsters, peace returned. Unfortunately, amphibians did not give up, and their dangerous rush from across the ocean is becoming louder and louder. The husband Pit has to grab his weapon again and stand up against intruders, in which he is bravely supported by Princess Patty.
As in the original, the basis of the game in Shooting Himself 2 is shooting from the bow to the frogs falling from the top of the screen. The task turns out to be difficult, because at each hit the amphibians are divided into smaller ones and it takes a lot of reflex and customs eye to finally neutralize them. Luckily, the various power-ups that can be obtained during the game come to your aid.
Among the novelties introduced in the Shooting Self 2, the most noteworthy is the possibility to choose one of the two heroes (both playable characters have slightly different skills), switches that allow you to activate various mechanisms on the boards, as well as four mini-games. The creators also prepared an additional mode of play in cooperation and implemented scripts of artificial intelligence, allowing to automatically adjust the level of difficulty of the game to the player’s skills.
Compared to the first part of the game, the developers from Snowstep studio managed to improve the quality of the visual setting, mainly through nicer character models and the use of animated backgrounds on the boards. Although the game in Shooting Self 2 is mainly about shooting animals, the humorous convention and the way of presentation make the title is addressed to a very wide audience.
