In every origin story, the player is introduced to Duncan, a Grey Warden who is trying to find recruits to join the order. By the end of their origin story, the player's character is selected as a potential Grey Warden, and leaves with Duncan.
The player and Duncan journey to a fortress called Ostagar in southern Ferelden, to join Cailan, the King of Ferelden, and Loghain, a legendary general and Cailan's father-in-law. The three leaders plan to make a stand against the encroaching Darkspawn before the Blight can overwhelm Ferelden. Duncan can sense the influence of an Archdemon, a god-like being hosted in the body of a powerful Dragon that commands the Darkspawn, which means that this would be the first true Blight in over 400 years. It is of utmost importance that this Blight is ended before it can gain momentum, as previous Blights have left Thedas all but in ruins.

Game Analysis | The Chantry teaches that it is the hubris of men that brought the darkspawn into our world. Mages sought to usurp Heaven, but were cast out, twisted by their own corruption, only to return as monsters--the darkspawn. They plague the underground caverns and tunnels once inhabited by the dwarven kingdoms. When they awaken one of the Old Gods, ancient dragons slumbering in the depths of the earth, it rises as an archdemon to lead the darkspawn in a full-scale invasion of the human lands: a Blight. It has been four centuries since the last Blight, but the darkspawn are amassing once again. | |

The game really has a tree of events based in your choices and origins, that make each replay you do unique. The gameplay also offered a lot way of play the game, with a varied of skills to use and you trully need a little strategy if you will play in high levels. Despite of this some people maybe don’t like of the gameplay, some say that the game maybe didn’t age very well in this part, but for me the gameplay is normal (Maybe I’m just old school), so if you wonder about play this game or not It’s good think about this. Also the game is very rpg-like, in other words, you are the main character, this maybe is not important, but I see a lot people complaining about the lack of personality of the main character about this feature, so it always depends of your taste. The lore is awesome and made you want to know more about the universe of Dragon Age, it’s so true that the story expanded to books and comics. Graphics are average, even for that time, and just to say I found the poker face that the main character does every time in the game very creepy. The soundtrack made by Inon Zur is fantastic.
Conclusion: A great RPG with a great story and soundtrack. Maybe the gameplay and graphic are outdate, but I think everyone should give at least one try in this wonderful game.
