A first-person shooter which creators were clearly inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. In the game, we are thrown into the contaminated sector to face mutated beasts and stalkers. CryZone enriches the well-known model of gameplay with a few extras, including the system of wound treatment known from Far Cry 2
CryZone: Sector 23 is a first-person free-to-play shooter, maintained in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R style. The game was based on modifications to Crysis with the same name, but was later transformed into a standalone project. It was developed by OWL Game Studio, consisting of fans of the universe created by the GSC Game World.
In CryZone we assume the role of a man who goes to the eponymous land contaminated by radioactivity similar to the Zona from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. The protagonist goes there to find a way to restore his sons life. The task will not be easy, because of the dangerous beasts prowling around and the stalkers seeking wealth and fighting for survival in the harsh conditions.
Developers of CryZone tried to keep the most important features of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, and, above all, dense, depressing atmosphere and an open world. The player can take a number of challenges and does not have to immediately follow the main storyline. The above mentioned stalkers, who act independently of the player and have their own goals, help in building a dynamic experience of the world. OWL Game Studio enriched the game with a few additions such as the wound treating system reminiscent of that of Far Cry 2
CryZone: Sector 23 is based on CryEngine 3, so it looks really nice. The developers put a lot of work into creating areas rich in detail and hi-res textures.
