## Description
_Crystal Rain Forest V2_ is an updated and enhanced version of Sherston’s
1992 title Crystal Rain Forest, there was also a Crystal Rain Forest 2000. It
is an educational title sold to schools, it teaches numeracy, problem solving,
ecology and environmental awareness but most of all it teaches the LOGO
programming language.
_Crystal Rain Forest V2_ is an adventure game in which the player must find a
way to save the rain forest which is gradually being cut down and destroyed by
the Cut and Run Gang. The gang are chopping down the trees in the planet’s
last remaining rain forest. The king, who realises the importance of the
oxygen giving trees orders them to stop so they shoot him with a poisoned
arrow. Now the king lies in a coma in the city hospital and the only thing
that can save him are the magic crystals that can sometimes be found in the
forest. These natural crystals are hard to find but Professor Roberts is
developing a way to make them artificially with his computer.
The game can be played in Adventure mode in which the twelve puzzles contained
within the game are played in the context of the story, or it can be played in
Activity mode where the puzzles can be played and replayed in any order. All
puzzles are solved by using Logo commands which in later puzzles are built up
into short routines.
There is a teacher option to choose between the two levels of difficulty in
the game , this affects some, but not all of the puzzles. There are also
teacher options to configure the game and an optional Crystal Logo function
which allows players to write their own logo programs. The game can be fully
narrated and, if enabled, will voice the LOGO commands as they are executed.
