Chameleon Gems
Chameleon Gems is an action-puzzle game with an Aztec theme, based on the
Ballistic concept. You are controlling a stone chameleon statue in the middle
of the playfield. The statue cannot move, but it can turn around.
An endless chain of colored gems is moving along a curved track towards a
hole. You must shoot colored gems from the statue to prevent the chain from
reaching the hole (if it does, you lose a life and have to restart the level);
when you shoot a gem into the chain, it becomes a part of it. If at least
three same-colored gems end up next to each other, they disappear, possibly
also causing neighboring gem groups to vanish.
As you keep destroying the gems, a bar at the top of the screen slowly fills
itself; once it is filled completely, new gems cease to appear on the
playfield, and you just have to destroy the ones that are left to finish the
level.
In between the levels, you can pay a visit to a shop, where you can spend your
points to buy “skins” (you can choose a skin to wear before each level, and
each skin gives your chameleon a different ability) and power-ups. You can
also find power-ups on the playfield; they are hidden inside certain gems, and
you receive their benefit when the gems are destroyed. The power-ups include
“eagle eye” (a colored beam emerges from your eyes, making it much easier to
aim), “fireball” which can be fired at the chain to destroy multiple gems at
once, and more.
