Max is back!! Bigger and bader than ever before!!!!
Stainless/SCi announces the release of the eagerly awaited sequel to its 1997 smash hit Carmageddon, Carmageddon 2 – Carpocalypse now. Carmageddon 1 was released last year amongst “just a tiny bit” of controversy, with calls to “ban this killer car game” from the media around the world, and then went on to prove its critics wrong by scooping a body bag full of awards from around the globe. Developed once again, by the patients of Parkhurst prison’s clinically insane wing, known as Stainless Software, Carmageddon 2 – Carpocalypse Now, is destined to make computer gaming history again. Let’s face it, Carmageddon 1 caused a blood storm in a teacup, this time prepare for a full-on tidal wave.
Carmageddon 2 – Carpocalypse Now will take players to the next level of gameplay, whether you are trying to hold down your lunch after taking out those pedestrians waiting for a bus, or franticly trying to re-build your car after having your butt kicked by one of the GAME’S AI opponents, Carmageddon 2 – Carpocalypse Now will take you to the edge and further as you race your way through 1998’s greatest driving game.

Game Analysis | Like its predecessor, Carmageddon II was subject to criticism for the level of violence portrayed in the game. It is rated 15+ by ELSPA. In some countries, the pedestrians (and animals) are zombies, and blood is turned to green slime: In Germany, aliens replaced the pedestrians. Internet-released 'blood patches' restore the original human pedestrians. The blood pack was later released in the United Kingdom in 1999, earning the game an 18 certificate.rnrnIt features a heavy metal soundtrack with songs from Iron Maiden and instrumental tracks from Sentience.rnrnCarmageddon II was one of the few racing games at the time to feature deformable models on its cars, making for more realistic dents and crashes. In fact, the player's car can even be bent in half, leaving the player to drive with only the front wheels on the ground. The car can also be sheared in half, causing retirement from the race if the damage is not repaired before the vehicle touches the ground. | |

After the initial success of the first title, Carmageddon 2 had quite a high level of expectations to meet. And it failed horribly. The age of 3-D has only began and the main feature was supposed to bring success could barely justify the resulting game. The edgy bulky graphics did not impress. The damage system, although improved, now made the rides feel awkwardly fragile, taking the fun out of the whole vehicular massacre concept. And then there were missions. Tedious progress-blocking tasks that seemed to be specifically designed to make the player cringe. The world felt small and simple in its structure, while the car designs seemed rushed and sketchy. As a result the sequel is overshadowed by the ancestor that is older and yet much better done.
