The Brigade 2 boom is a mobile battle strategy released on AND, WP and iOS. The production was developed by 10tons studio, which is the same band that was behind the first part of the series released in 2009.
### Story
The action of the game takes place in the distant future and manoeuvres us as the commander of a small, but well-trained unit of soldiers, on whose shoulders falls the duty to repel the invasion of an insectoidal alien race. The plot does not play a major role here and is just a pretext for playing a set of thirty missions.
### Mechanics
The Brigade 2 boom for AND, WP and iOS combines tower defense strategy elements with more traditional RTS solutions. On each map our task is to defend a small command center against hordes of enemies. For this purpose, however, we do not construct any watchtowers, but command a unit composed of five soldiers. Each of them has different weapons and skills. Interestingly, we can’t give them an attack command – they automatically open fire to any target that comes within their sight. The whole game consists in giving movement commands in such a way that a subordinate is exactly where he or she should be. This is done using a touch interface that only requires you to draw routes with your finger on the screen. At any time we can also use the active pause function and give orders in peace and quiet.
It all sounds simple, but Boom Brigade 2 can give you a solid bone. After several introductory missions, the difficulty level begins to rise rapidly, and soon we have to deal with dozens of enemies attacking from all sides. Winning requires proper management of the attention of a handful of soldiers, efficient use of terrain obstacles and making good use of a small number of special attacks, which we receive in each battle.
The alien breed is very diverse and the different species that make up the hive require different tactics. In addition, our soldiers from battle to battle collect experience points for which we can unlock new skills. There are always a few such improvements to choose from and all of them are useful, but at the same time they have very different uses, which makes it important to influence the course of the skirmishes and what plans we can develop.
In addition to the campaign, there is also a survival mode, in which we try to endure as long as possible against endless waves of enemies.
